Pregnant & ALAK ‘Tradition Tour’: At Crossfades Analogue Barbershop

Pregnant & ALAKJoin California experimental pop artists Pregnant and ALAK on their full U.S. ‘Tradition Tour’ at the Cross Fades Analogue Barbershop in Astoria. Joined by their 1 year-old, the two solo musicians have planned a month-long excursion performing music and creating a “memory” map for their daughter along the way.

Pregnant is the musical works of Daniel Trudeau; producer, visual artist, musician, hailing from the Sierra Nevada Foothills of Northern California. Danielle Trudeau pairs sweet vocal stylings with a swelling collage of electronics, foot pedals, guitars and sax, to produce a dreamy style DIY vibe.

ALAK is the moniker for Placerville (CA) based artist and musician Jocelyn Jade Noir. ALAK has toured the United States extensively, has made it on to several top 10 lists for Davis, CA’s college radio station 90.3FM, and was nominated two years in a row for Best Experimental Band in the Sacramento Sammies Awards (winning the category in 2008). ALAK’s experimental folk-influenced pop songs, while based in pop structurally, inhabit complicated music composition and songwriting. Largely inspired by the environment in which she grew up, Jocelyn writes in a surreal but accessible way about dream imagery, the inadvertent loss of physical and spiritual control and the mysteries of all things natural.

Their US tour starts in August 2011 in conjunction with three new releases on KDVS Records, Gilgongo Records, and Porter Records.

Also featuring local Astoria band Kites at Night. $4, 7:30pm,  Cross Fades Barbershop is located at 250 11th Street 503-468-8277. To find out more visit their websites at: www.danielispregnant.com & www.alakshrine.com.
