Benyaro at the VooDoo Room

BenyaroRecently frequented the VooDoo Room in Astoria? They’ve got a stage! And recently Ben Musser of Benyaro, has been hootin’ on it with various musicians, like Luke of Blind Pilot (who built the stage).  Benyaro is a 3-piece indie acoustic band (from out east) with Musser upfront, Bobby McCullough on stand up bass, and Meg Chamberlin on various accompaniment instruments, and all three hit the sonic atmosphere with expressive harmonies. In addition,  emotional electricity fills the room when Benyaro plays.

Expanding on gospel, folk, country, rock, blues, soul to beatboxing/house, Benyaro is in the eye of the music biz, (closing for The Avett Brothers, sharing the stage with Samantha Crain and the Midnight Shivers, and opening for Jill Andrews of the Everybodyfields), and in the arms of its audience. So refreshing is there LIVE performance – they bring new/bring back rhythm, soul, melody and big heart.

Sunday, July 24, 8ish. A very good choice at the VooDoo Room in Astoria.  And they gotta stage.
